Neil Young, Harvest
Embroidery stitched directly through a vinyl record sleeve.
12x12x2 inches, framed in acrylic.
Neil Young’s request to the record label when designing this album cover was that he wanted it to slowly degrade after it was removed from the shrink wrapping. Inevitably this didn’t happen but when embroidering this album i wanted it to look and feel really old. For this to occur I searched for really vintage, worn albums. The more tattered the better. I then stitched thousands of stitches in shades of brown and tan to age the cardboard even more. The logo was created by stitching directly through the albums with thousands of more stitches. When I finished, the album truly looks like it was embroidered almost 50 years ago, when Harvest was originally released.
