The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night

Embroidered patches mounted over embroidery stitched directly through a vinyl record sleeve.

     It seems like the Beatles had at least 2 different covers for all of their albums. A Hard Day's night is no exception. The United States release is the red version that I had previously released. The import is an entirely different creature. This version features the title bar with 20 portraits of The individual Beatles, 5 of each member. The first step I did with this album was to create 20 individual patches of the portraits. These were a challenge to re-create since they are very small and are in black and white. The album itself was created in a series of appliqués with the lettering being directly embroidered through the album. Once completed, the patches were collaged onto the surface.
