Embroidery stitched directly through a vinyl record sleeve.

     Alicia’s hair is what inspired this piece. The album Here features a beautiful portrait of Alicia Keys with her hair splayed over the surface of the album. The portrait is in black and white and I thought this was the the perfect portrait to add explosive bursts of color. I embroidered the hair in multiple colors of wool, cashmere and silk yarns. I have never used this much yarn on a piece before and the end result is stunning.
