Designed by architect Johannes Gabriel in 1930 while he was faculty at the Bauhaus Dessau School and enjoyed for private use. They were mentioned in Christbaum Schmuck, by Eva Stille.  The original set of 12 ornaments was acquired by Peter Kahane at an auction comprising of several other Gabriel family possessions and archives. Reproduced to exact scale and color, the re-edited set was released in celebration of the centennial of the Bauhaus (1919-2019), their geometric forms being both traditional in Germany as well as reminiscent of the costume designs of Oskar Schlemmer for Tragic Ballet. Hand-crafted in the Black Forest of solid maple.
